Clout break through to spearhead Dunlop first four

Ficeda Accessories press release:

CDR Yamaha Monster Energy’s Luke Clout has taken his maiden SX1-class victory ahead of Dan Reardon, Justin Brayton and fellow US-based rider Josh Hill in the triple-header format at the third round of the Australian Supercross Championship, proudly supported by Dunlop.

Held in the heart of Wollongong alongside the Australian Motorcycle Festival and in front of over 11,000 race fans, Clout, running MX33 pattern Dunlop Geomax tyres front and rear, raced to 2-1-1 across all three finals to secure his first SX1 round win, while teammate Dan Reardon continued his consistent run of podiums securing second overall with 3-2-2. After a strong start to the night, Brayton secured third overall with 1-4-4 in a somewhat uncharacteristic night for the US-based rider. New to the series this weekend, Josh Hill, aboard a CDR Yamaha Monster Energy YZ450F, took fourth with 5-5-3 results in his first taste of the 2019 championship.

Serco Yamaha’s Aaron Tanti went into the weekend with the SX2 championship lead. However, a 4-5-9 for fourth overall has the Sydney-based rider now third, with two rounds to go. The night was looking good for Yamalube Yamaha’s Jay Wilson with the opening final win, but a first-turn pile-up put the reigning champ to the back of the field in the third final, recording 1-4-19 and sixth overall.

Dunlop Motorsport Manager, Robbie Bugden: “What an incredible night of racing! Once again, we saw the Geomax tyres taking race wins in all classes, but tonight it was really special to be there as Luke (Clout) took his first SX1 round win. He’s raced on Dunlop for a number of years now and it’s been great to watch him progress as a rider. To secure the top four placings on the night and to hold half of the top ten placings in the championship is a testament to our products. When you consider that four of those top five are local guys, it also shows just how talented racers are in Australia, and we’re proud to support them. It’s been terrific to partner with Troy Bayliss Events on the series, and, in particular, to be racing in such an impressive stadium with an incredible atmosphere was nothing short of amazing.”
