Yamaha ready to show and go

The inaugural Australian Motorcycle Festival on 9-10 November will transform the shores of the picturesque beachside city of Wollongong into a Yamaha fan’s dream. Because Yamaha Motor Australia is hosting a customer activation extravaganza that will get the wind in your hair, salt water on your cheeks and sand between your toes.

The Yamaha precinct at the Australian Motorcycle Festival is designed to be an interactive experience for Yamaha enthusiasts of all ages. Showgoers will be able to lust over displays of the latest release Yamahas on land and sea as well as musical instruments and sound systems. They will also find out more about the recently announced 1% p.a. comparison rate finance on two-wheelers, four-wheelers, outboards and WaveRunners. Plus a wide range of summer savings!

Thrill seekers will also experience first-hand all the thrills that a Yamaha dream machine can deliver.

Test rides of Yamaha products will be available across the weekend between 10.30am and 2.30pm, free to anyone with a valid festival entry ticket, the appropriate licence, and the lust for adventure.

The interactive fun isn’t confined to mum and dad, all-day activities for kids young and old will take place in the show area and on the beachfront. Yamaha motorcycle test rides
With the assistance of Yamaha’s bLU cRU partners motoDNA, a test ride route through the winding roads of Wollongong’s picturesque escarpment has been mapped out for riders wanting to experience the latest two-wheel dream machines.

An extensive range of Yamaha models will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am until 2:30pm, providing an opportunity to sample the awesome power and handling of the new 2020 YZF-R1, the mind-blowing grip of the Leaning Multi Wheeler Niken, or the nimbleness of the MT naked bike range. LAMs riders and scooter fans are also well catered for.
Pre-booking, motorcycle licence, appropriate riding attire – including a helmet – is a must.

Yamaha WaveRunner test rides
The Illawarra has some of the best WaveRunner and boating coastline in NSW, and the Yamaha marine team will be stationed at Wollongong Harbour on Saturday and Sunday from 10.30 am until 2:30pm offering test rides on a selection of the most technically advanced watercraft on the market.

Yamaha’s pocket rocket EXR, race-inspired VXR supercharged GP1800, and the new-for-2019 naturally aspirated and supercharged FX will all be available for testing.
Life vests are provided but pre-booking, licence and appropriate attire are required.

Don’t yet have your PWC licence? No problem, the highly trained Yamaha marine staff will happily take you for a two-up blast to remember. Once hooked, see our Yamaha Training Academy staff at the show to book in for a PWC licensing course.

Fun bike experience
Located in the centre of the Yamaha area, our pop-up kids fun bike come-and-try arena provides a controlled and safe environment for the next generation of riders.

The young ones can enjoy laps of our supervised inflatable test arena on Yamaha’s popular PW50 and TT-R50 fun bikes or try four wheels on the YFZ50 fun ATV.

Riding tips and encouragement is provided by professional coaches from Oates MX as is all the required safety gear including boots, jersey, pants, helmet, goggles and gloves. Best of all, it’s free to festival ticket holders, and there’s no need to pre-register – but make sure you book early on the day. Riders must be aged 5-10 years for the two-wheel fun bikes, and 6 – 10 years for the four-wheel fun bikes. All riders must wear the supplied safety gear.

Kids fishing workshop
This fun learning experience on the sand next to the calm waters of Wollongong Harbour is the perfect place for kids of all ages to discover the joy of fishing. The Fishcare Volunteer run workshops will introduce handy skills and teach important rules governing the relaxing and enjoyable sport of recreational fishing. There’s plenty of giveaways for everyone who takes part.

Just look for the Yamaha flags on the sand at Wollongong Harbour, a short walk from the festival precinct. No need to pre-book, come on down and we will slot you into the next available session.

Yamaha Genuine Parts & Accessories
Everything from Akrapovic exhausts, cowl and WaveRunner covers, GYTR performance products through to the latest on and off-road motorcycle wear and merchandise is available from Yamaha Genuine Parts & Accessories. The team will have a trade stand set up inside the main Yamaha marquee, selling a wide range of genuine Yamaha products. The Yamaha Genuine Parts & Accessories team will be on hand to answer any questions you have about kitting out your Yamaha Motorcycle, ATV or WaveRunner. Yamaha hero Valentino Rossi can’t make it, but we have the next best thing – a cardboard cut-out of the MotoGP legend. Have your photo taken with Vale for a chance to win $750 worth of Yamaha apparel and merchandise.

Supercross Nationals
The action shifts up a gear after sundown on Saturday with the Yamaha-sponsored third round of the Supercross Nationals at Win Stadium – adjoining the Wollongong Motorcycle Festival area.

In addition to a night of high-revving high-flying action from the best supercross riders in the country, the event will also feature the next generation of motocross champions competing in the popular Yamaha YZ65 Cup.
