Motoview

The current week in dirt bikes, presented by Thor MX Australia.

After a lengthy six-week break, the Pirelli MX Nationals returns to action this weekend. Welcome to Motoview presented by Thor MX Australia on MotoOnline.com.au.

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve posted Motoview, mostly due to attending the 2019 Tatts Finke Desert Race, which was a week-long affair for us! We’ve certainly been keeping busy in the midst of the MX Nationals break, but to say we’re excited to see it kick off again this weekend is an understatement.

The series heads to Gympie in Queensland, which marks a new venue on the calendar, and one that has riders excited. Images have surfaced this week of the track, and it looks like an incredible place. We can’t wait to be on-hand to cover the racing as it happens.

Riders take many approaches in the break – some continue racing local events to remain sharp, while others remain relatively lowe key. Safe to say, it’s going to be an interesting weekend of racing that will determine who’s been working and who’s been sleeping in the six weeks.

Luke Clout enters with the red-plate for the first time in his premier class career, but, he holds just a mere four-point advantage over Hayden Mellross, while Todd Waters is a further six points back. Add in Kirk Gibbs, who is out of the title hunt and has nothing to lose, I think we can expect a thriller of a weekend.

In the MX2 category, you have Wilson Todd who’s just returned from a stellar stint in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, while current runner-up Kyle Webster has had a strong pre-season with a strong showing at the Manjimup 15,000. Plus there’s former champion Jay Wilson, who’ll be hungry to notch up his first win of the season. The field is stacked is stacked, so you just never know who’ll stand on the podium.

That’s it for this week, we’ll catch you next Wednesday with another Motoview presented by Thor MX Australia feature! In the meantime stay tuned to MotoOnline.com.au for the latest daily content and be sure to follow us on social media via @motoonline on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
