Former multi-time world champion Tim Gajser (Honda HRC) has taken out a commanding overall victory at Saint Jean d’Angely’s seventh round of the 2019 MXGP World Championship in France, marking the second-consecutive weekend that he’s swept both motos.

The Slovenian put on a strong display of riding, securing race wins in the pair of outings while capitalising on a challenging weekend for points leader Antonio Cairoli (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), cutting out 24 points in his lead to bring the difference to just 10 markers after the Italian finished seventh overall.

Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP’s Arnaud Tonus was an impressive runner-up ahead of former world champion Romain Febvre (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing), as Clement Desalle (Monster Energy Kawasaki Factory Racing) and Jeremy Seewer (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing) locked out the top five.

In the MX2 category, reigning world champion Jorge Prado (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) snatched the overall from Jago Geerts (Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha Official MX2) on count-back, the duo each scoring a race win to ultimately level on points.

Thomas Kjer Olsen (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) rounded out the podium ahead of Australian Mitch Evans (Team Honda 114 Motorsports), who was fourth following a 7-4 scorecard, as Adam Sterry (F&H Racing Kawasaki) completed the top five.

Australian Jed Beaton (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) failed to complete the grand prix after finishing 20th in timed practice. Compatriot Caleb Grothues (SDM Yamaha) was 19th overall in the EMX250 category of the European Motocross Championship. The MXGP World Championship now heads to Orlyonok in Russia on 9 June.
