Yamaha Junior Racing weekend rampage

Yamaha Motor Australia press release:

With three major events in each of the three eastern states, the GYTR Yamaha Junior Racing Team riders were in action from Colac in the south, Roma in the north and Maitland in the middle as they continue their sensational start to the 2019 season.

And in all the action were plenty of race and round victories as the riders continue to show case Yamaha’s amazing YZ range.

Victorian Junior MX Champs
The Colac club hosted round one of the Victorian Junior Motocross Championships and the loamy track turned on some great racing. Making the trek across from South Australia was the current Australian junior Champion, Alex Larwood, and he was clearly the man to beat in the 15 years classes. Alex dominated proceedings on his YZ125, winning all three races and taking the perfect 105 points home for the day.

He also took the win in the 15 years 250cc division with 1-3-1 results making it five race wins out of six in a very successful days racing. Making it a 1-3 in this class was Victorian Kipp Adams who finished third in a strong performance.

In the 9-11 years 65cc class, Wil Carpenter finished in third place with some impressive riding. Also turning in good performances were Jobe Dunne, Angus Pearce and Jay Jennings as the YJR crew were out in force on the weekend.

Sunshine State Series – QLD
Hot and humid conditions greeted the riders at round two of the Airoh Helmets Sunshine State Motocross series at Roma, five hours north west of Brisbane. The hard pack track gets rutty and challenging to ride but the Queensland crew handled the conditions well and again posted great results.

Levi Rogers showed the way, winning all six races on the weekend in both classes he contested. He was a cut above all comers in the 15 years divisions, taking out the 125 and 250cc categories in a dominating display. He comfortably leads his classes after two rounds and looks forward to continuing his good form at the coming rounds.

Team mate, Jake Cannon also got in on the winning action, taking the class win in the 9-11 years 65cc, with victory in all three motos. He backed that up with a second place finish on his 85cc machine in the 9-11 years 85 class with 1-2-2 results. Across both riders and four classes, the boys won 10 out of the 12 motos contested in a great weekend.

East Coast MX – NSW
The weekend all saw the second round of the East Coast MX series which runs during the year in New South Wales. The Kingsford family were the stars of the show and between the two brothers, they bought home three class wins and a third place.

Younger brother Kayd lead the way with success in both the 9-11 years 65 and 85cc classes. He dominated the 85cc class taking all three race wins, while he consistency is what got him home on the 65 when he finished with 2-2-2 results but scraped enough points to take the round victory.

Ryder Kingsford was in on the podium action and claimed victory in the 12-15 years 85cc class with 1-3-2 results to finish one point ahead of his nearest rival. He is also coming to terms with the bigger and more powerful 125cc machine and claws his way to third with 4-3-3 results.
