Osby finishes sixth in the 2018 Supercross Championship for Raceline Pirelli KTM

Raceline Pirelli KTM press release:

Raceline Pirelli KTM’s Josh Osby has wrapped up the 2018 Australian Supercross Championship in front of a sold out crowd at the AUS-X Open in Sydney, finishing sixth in the SX2 Championship standings.

With Qudos Bank Arena jam packed with thousands of screaming fans, Osby qualified in an impressive fourth position, on territory he is certainly familiar with – an indoor race track.

In heat 1 Osby unfortunately went down, however remounted and crossed the finish line in sixth, sending him into the infamous last chance qualifying race. However, entry into the SX2 final was assured when American Osby won the four lap LCQ dash, ensuring Raceline Pirelli KTM was well represented later in the night.

With the last Supercross final of the season split across a trio of motos Osby had his work cut out for him. Despite going down in race 1 and finishing 12th, Osby redeemed himself with 6,4 race finishes in the last two, placing him in seventh overall for the night and rewarding him with sixth in the 2018 SX2 Supercross Championship.

“Sydney didn’t pan out exactly how we would have liked, I have a lot of experience racing in stadiums so I went in really prepared, but the track on the weekend was actually quite different to what we have at home and it took a little while to adjust” Osby shared.

“We qualified really well and I knew the speed was there to win races, but it was more about the start than anything on the weekend. There weren’t a lot of opportunities to pass and our races were short.

“In saying that I have really enjoyed my time in Australia. The Raceline guys have gone above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and I have loved working with them.

“We had some really great moments together as a team including podiums, and finishing off the season at an event like the AUS-X Open is really special, I’ve always wanted to race that event.

“I can’t thank everyone enough who has welcomed me to Australia and although i didn’t exactly achieve what I set out to do, I’ve made some great friends and had an awesome experience so I hope to be back one day soon.”

Raceline Pirelli KTM’s Team Manager Chris Woods also thanked Osby for his contribution to the team, and those behind the scenes.

“Our last round was a little tough but all in all we have a lot to be proud of this season,” Woods explained.

“We were there every weekend putting on a show and doing our best, and Josh has done a fantastic job in representing what our team is about.

“There are so many people behind the scenes who make racing possible. From our sponsors and team partners, to families, KTM, and of course our mechanics who work their butts off day in day out.

“I can’t thank those who continue to support us enough, without you all our little team going racing just wouldn’t be possible.”

Raceline Pirelli KTM would like to take this opportunity to thank those involved who have made the 2018 Motocross and Supercross season such a great success and look forward to sharing many more special racing moments with you all in the near future.
