It’s been announced the Triple Crown format will return to a selection of rounds in the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, while an additional 250SX East/West Showdown has been added to the schedule.

The Triple Crown will feature at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on 19 January, followed by Detroit’s Ford Field on 23 February and Houston’s NRG Stadium on 30 March, which will allow fans to witness more racing with three main events on offer.

Qualifying races will reduce the field to the top 22 racers in each class where an Olympic-style scoring system will be used to determine an overall winner, and championship points are awarded based on the overall finish. Introduced to the series in 2018, the format was a hit with race fans.

Two 250SX Class East/West Showdowns will continue to double the excitement at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 2 March and Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on 4 May for the season finale, which will see 22 of the fastest riders from both regions of the 250SX class championship battle each other for victory.

The main event will be the first and only time throughout the night that all the 250SX Class stars will line up on the gate for a 15-minute plus one lap main where the winner takes all.

The 2019 championship is set to kick off on Saturday, 5 January at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. Click here to view the entire 17-round schedule.
