It’s been revealed popular Monster Energy AMA Supercross regular Dean Wilson will make his way to Australia for the 2018 Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney on 9-10 November, effectively replacing Justin Barcia (Monster Energy Yamaha) who recently withdrew from the event.

Wilson attended the AUS-X Open for the first time in 2017, scoring victory on the opening night of racing before backing it up with second on night two to former teammate and now current world champion Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing).

Coming off his best premier class campaign in AMA Supercross that consisted of a podium at the Indianapolis round, the number 15 is set to pilot a DPH Motorsport Husqvarna FC 450 inside Qudos Bank Arena.

“I’m super excited to be returning to the AUS-X Open again in 2018,” said Wilson. “It’s perfect timing for me to come down and really put in a good performance; with the high calibre names that are competing this year, if I can beat them, then I’m back on the international radar, which is what I’m aiming for.

“Obviously last year went really well – I won the first night and then backed it up with a second on the second night, which was awesome. But just the overall atmosphere and vibe – to come and see Australia and Sydney during the summer time was incredible, and I can’t wait to head back down under.”

The talented Scotsman rounds out an impressive international line-up that consists of Anderson, Chad Reed (Autotrader Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) and Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Yamaha). It’s also been determined Barcia’s absence is due to required eye surgery that clashed with the AUS-X Open.
