Raceline Pirelli KTM’s Osby optimistic despite Coolum difficulties

Raceline Pirelli KTM press release:

Raceline Pirelli KTM’s Osby is remaining optimistic despite a challenging outing at Round 2 of the Australian Supercross Championship at Coolum over the weekend.

Osby who hails from America is well experienced racing both indoors and outdoors in the U.S and entered the weekend’s event feeling prepared and ready to challenge for the SX2 podium, however a crash during the main event proved costly.

Osby kicked off proceedings at Round 2 by lodging the fourth fastest time in free practice, followed by the 7th fastest qualifying time, a 59.435 lap. Then, in heat two Osby charged to a second place finish behind Aaron Tanti, putting himself in a good position ahead of the 15 lap main event. However unfortunately for Osby back to back podiums slipped through his fingers at Coolum, falling on lap eight which eventually resulted in a 16th overall for the round.

Despite Saturday’s tough racing, Osby remains positive ahead of Geelong’s round of racing the weekend, and now holds 7th in the SX2 Championship standings with three rounds remaining.

“From the start at Coolum everything was looking really positive. I had a couple of tip overs during practice but it was just everyone getting used to the track and it was muddy so I just washed it off and got ready for the rest of the day,” Osby explained

“In my heat I finished second – I managed to make a bit of a charge for the lead in that race, but I knew that second was good enough and it would put me in a good spot for the main event.

“In the main I started slow and when I finally got into the groove of things I ended up making a costly mistake and ended up on the ground.

“My front brake actually got blocked with dirt and my brake cover was pushed in so it took me a while to get that all cleared out and get going again. I lost a alot of ground and we ended up 16th.

“The rest of the weekend and even the main event had plenty of positives though – we are learning all the time and we had good speed. The track was quite one lined in the main. All of us SX2 guys are really going at it, so if it was a bit more opened up I think the racing would have been even better than it was, and it was good already!

“We will just refocus now and get ready for Geelong and hopefully make up some points this next round.”

Raceline Pirelli KTM will now prepare for the third round of the Australian Supercross Championship which will take place at Geelong in Victoria on October 13, 2018.
