Dominant Milner clinches Australian Off-Road series outright with KTM

KTM Australia press release:

KTM Enduro Racing Team’s Daniel Milner successfully swept his class in the 2018 Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) at Omeo’s final rounds of the season in Victoria, clinching the E3 crown and taking the outright honours following a dominant campaign.

Milner was once again all class aboard his KTM 500 EXC-F, topping Saturday’s three-hour Cross Country by over 25 seconds in dry, dusty conditions to clinch the E3 title in a historic result after previously capturing the E1 and E2 championships during his illustrious career.

Sunday’s Sprint round saw Milner round out the 11-round season with another convincing class win, putting forward a controlled performance to lead all five tests and build an advantage of near 20 seconds on combined times.

Also capping off a strong season was teammate Lyndon Snodgrass in the E2 division, shining on-board the KTM 450 EXC-F. Snodgrass endured a difficult encounter on Saturday for fourth in class, however bounced back in Sunday’s Sprint to score second in class and third outright for the round and series.

KTM Enduro Racing Team’s Milner and Snodgrass will now turn their attention to the 2018 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), to be contested at Vina del Mar in Chile between 12-17 November, where they will form an integral part of Team Australia’s World Trophy squad.

Glenn Kearney – Motorsport Manager, KTM Australia: “It’s a tremendous result and we couldn’t be happier! Everything really went to plan, Milner rode unbelievable, and he managed to wrap up the E3 championship on Saturday, followed by the outright on Sunday. He won every test and dominated like he has most of the year, so it was a really impressive way to round out the year. Lyndon also really impressed me and did what he had to do in class and outright, so we are really satisfied with the overall result. I can’t give enough praise to the team, Mick Carusi and Harry Norton, as well as everybody at KTM Australia including Jeff Leisk for enabling this to happen. We have enjoyed an extremely successful year across the board.”

Daniel Milner – KTM 500 EXC-F: “It was such a good weekend and I’m really excited to bring home my third AORC championship in both the class and outright. I’ve won within all three classes now – E1, E2 and E3 – so that was pretty cool, plus it’s satisfying to clean-sweep the year in E3 and I only lost two rounds outright. I was happy to finish off the season so strongly and I’m absolutely stoked to be able to deliver the results that we have, even though conditions have been so dry and dusty this season. The track layout this weekend was awesome though, everybody put in a big effort and now I look forward to the six-day!”

Lyndon Snodgrass – KTM 450 EXC-F: “This weekend didn’t start off as planned in the Cross Country, so I wasn’t even on my class podium and that was frustrating, but I was able to come through today and finish second in class as well as third outright. That gave me the points I needed to take third in the outright points as well, which was cool, and it was definitely a good way to complete the season. To finish second in E2 for the year was good for me as well, so I am pumped and it’s been a great year for us as a team.”
