Talented Australian teenager Jett Lawrence wrapped up his rookie season in the EMX250 class of the Motocross European Championship in dominant fashion at the weekend, capturing his maiden victory with a commanding 1-1 scorecard at Assen’s final round in The Netherlands.

The Team Suzuki Germany rider proved to be too good on the man-made sand circuit, crushing the field in both outings after engaging in battles throughout the earlier stages.

“Around half of the race I was able to take the lead again and gained a comfortable gap until the race was finished,” Lawrence reflected.

“This is my first overall win in this class! We could not have ended this year’s European championship any better. Now I have to take this positive momentum to the finals of ADAC MX Youngster Cup next weekend in Holzgerlingen – there I want to get the title.”

The 15-year-old, who has a 65cc world championship to his name, wound up 13th in standings after completing eight of the 11 rounds. Lawrence is set join Geico Honda’s amateur squad, Factory Connection Honda, in the USA next year as older brother Hunter also transitions to the outfit’s 250 team in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championships.
