Challenging weekend for DPH Husqvarna

DPH Motorsport press release:

Excited to once again contest both MX1 and MX2 races over the weekend in Gladstone, the DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing Team had a somewhat mixed result with MX1 newcomer Callum Norton riding the FC450 to 7-7 for seventh overall, while in MX2 on the FC250, Dylan Wills went 5-19 for 12th overall.

Dylan Wills: “It’s not the weekend I wanted at this point in the championship. I got off the line well and rode to fifth in race one but just couldn’t push the way I wanted to. For race two, the track got rougher, and the ruts deeper and, although l kept it under wraps, I actually tweaked my knee in training and I just kept clipping it through corners until I eventually crashed, and struggled to get the bike going again, pushing me back to 19th. I’ll be resting this week as I start switching my thinking to supercross.”

Callum Norton: “I’m really happy with the weekend. Although I didn’t holeshot, I was in the lead group from the start and was able to push through both motos for equal sixth overall, and stay in front of some pretty fast guys. The DPH crew made me feel right at home on the bike and I can understand why so many riders step up when they ride for this team, so I’m glad I was able to give them a solid result. I can’t wait for Coolum next week!”

DPH Husqvarna team owner Dale Hocking: “We came into the weekend looking for Dylan to make up some points on third place, but it wasn’t to be. His knee was clearly giving him issues from the minute he got on the bike. If anything, his fifth in race one was better than we expected really. Callum on the other hand did a great job. He rode fast, smart and consistent for two solid finishes within the top ten against the best riders in Australia. I couldn’t ask any more from him than that, I just can’t wait for Coolum to see how he goes with a few more days on our bike!”

DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing team now stays in Queensland for the week, with the final round of the 2018 MX Nationals set to take place next weekend at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.
