Bulk Nutrients WBR Yamaha’s Hugh McKay has claimed victory in the MXD category at Conondale’s sixth round of the Pirelli MX Nationals in Queensland, while KTM-mounted contender Morgan Fogarty (KTM) stole the championship lead.

Race one saw McKay storm to a slender 2.800s victory over hard-charging duo Fogarty and Brodie Ellis (Yamaha), who wound up second and third respectively.

Husqvarna-mounted Riley Dukes fended off Jy Dickson (KTM) by a narrow margin to complete the top five – Mason Rowe (KTM) just half a second behind – while former points leader Bailey Malkiewicz experienced his own issues, finishing back in 18th position.

JCR Altherm Yamaha’s Maximus Purvis rebounded from a poor opening moto to reign supreme in the final outing, securing an impressive 10.317s victory over Rowe – a career-best race result for the Queenslander.

McKay settled in for third, edging out Ellis and Dukes for the final spot in the top three, crediting him the overall victory in the process. Alongside him on the podium was Ellis and Rowe.

In the Amateur Cup, Joshua Kilvington claimed the overall win by just one, defeating Lachlan Holroyd and Ryan Kenney for the top spot. Concluding the top five was Darcy Cavanagh and Jack McNeice.
