Two-time Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross 250MX champion Jeremy Martin will undergo back surgery today after suffering a horrific crash at Muddy Creek’s fifth round on the weekend.

After winning the opening moto, the Geico Honda rider collided upon landing with Monster Energy Yamalube Star Yamaha’s Justin Cooper on the opening lap, resulting in a heavy fall for the duo.

Martin’s diagnosis is a burst fracture to his L1 vertebrae, however he’s fully responsive with full movement in his body. His recovery time is anticipated to be around two months, where he’s expected to be able to begin therapy almost immediately after surgery.

Cooper was able to remount following the crash and rebounded for 28th position, granting him 10th overall after finishing second to Martin in the opening affair.
