Two-time Australian motocross champion Dean Ferris (CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team) believes the addition of GMHBA Stadium to the 2018 Australian Supercross Championship is a massive boost for the sport.

Ferris, who was on-hand performing media activities at the 34,000 seat capacity venue today, is evidently excited about racing inside the stadium, declaring it’s going to be an absolute spectacle for not only fans, but also the riders.

“This stadium is going to be a real spectacle for the fans and for us as riders,” Ferris stated. “There’s plenty of room for the track builders to shape the perfect supercross track to hit in maximum attack mode.

“Riding inside one of the top stadiums in Australia is a massive boost for the championship and makes us push even harder to put on the best show for our fans.”

It was also announced today that Yamaha Motor Australia will back the the event operated by three-time world superbike champion Troy Bayliss as a major sponsor, while Bayliss also revealed there will be a selection of activations to engage fans.

“We’re pumped to be teaming up with Yamaha Motor Australia to deliver round three of the Australian Supercross Championship to the people of Victoria at GMHBA Stadium and we think this is the perfect venue for fans to get up close and personal with the sport,” Bayliss commented.

“We’re expecting a big crowd down in Geelong to see Australia’s greatest supercross talent and we’re also offering fans new ways of interacting with their favourite teams and riders through our Pit Party activation, which will be free-of-charge to anyone on the day.”

The Victorian stop will mark round three of the series, scheduled for Saturday, 13 October. Tickets are due to go on sale Tuesday, 26 June, via Ticketmaster.
