DPH Motorsport Husqvarna’s Dylan Wills has expressed his dissatisfaction of finishing up 10th overall at the weekend’s Pirelli MX Nationals season-opener in Newry, Victoria.

After putting in a strong pre-season, the New South Welshman is adamant his 15-8 scorecard isn’t a reflection of his capabilities, and has declared he’ll be ironing out the kinks ahead of the second round in order to bring his campaign back on track.

“I’m pretty disappointed to be honest,” Wills commented. “My preparation coming into round one was strong, and the support I’m receiving from the team and each of the sponsors is awesome. I’m happy on the bike and with everything around me, and I think it showed in qualifying, but I just couldn’t find my rhythm in the races.

“Because I was pushing hard after mid-pack starts, I was making mistakes, dropping the bike and sending me back to where I started each time. 10th overall isn’t where I want to be, so I’ll be working hard between now and round two to find the positives and put myself in the positions I should be battling for.”

The second round of the MX Nationals that is to be hosted at the popular Appin circuit in New South Wales will be familiar territory for Wills, who’s a frequent user of the practice facility at the venue.
