DPH Husqvarna take positive steps at Newry

DPH Motorsport press release:

On a windy and dusty Newry race track 2.5 hours east of Melbourne, the DPH Motorsport Husqvarna Factory Racing team had their first official outing for round 1 of the 2018 MX Nationals.

With combined Practice/Qualifying starting at 8am followed by 2 races throughout the day, Kade Mosig in MX1 (450 class) continued to work hard and move forward all day finishing with a 3-8 result for 4th overall while Dylan Wills in MX2 (250 class) was quick to impress, qualifying 2nd, but uncharacteristic rough starts set the tone for the New South Welshman coming home with 15-8 scorecard for 10th overall.

“It’s a positive way to start our 2018 campaign” said DPH Husqvarna team owner, Dale Hocking. “Both riders showed impressive speed throughout the day, with Dylan only 0.1 off pole position while Kade looks to have picked up where he left off in 2017, showing impressive race speed and a constant drive to continue improving every time he rides.

I have to give a big thank you to Boyd and Pynee (Jarred) who worked incredibly hard, not only over the weekend, but in the months leading up to round 1 to get our new facility set up, the race truck in order and get the race bikes ready to beat the best in Australia. Luckily we’re back home and already working towards the next round in 2 weeks time”.

While never completely content unless he’s in first place, Kade Mosig is satisfied with the first races of the season: “I want to thank the whole DPH team for the big effort to get us to round 1 and be ready to roll” said Mosig.

“I’m really happy with my FC450, the WP suspension and Dunlop tyres were all working well on the rough circuit. Starting the day with P8 in timed qualifying, Race 1 was a great start, moving into the lead on lap 1 and battling for the entire 30 minute moto for a 3rd place.

Race 2 and I was mid pack off the start and had to work really hard to get through into 4th but after a mistake I went down, regrouped, and rode it out to finish 8th. I’m happy to come out of round 1 with good, solid points in 4th place and now I’ve 2 weeks to work hard and come out stronger at Appin on April 30”.

For Dylan Wills, the weekend proved a tougher start than anticipated: “I’m pretty disappointed to be honest” Wills said “My preparation coming into round 1 was strong, and the support I’m receiving from the team and each of the sponsors is awesome.

I’m happy on the bike and with everything around me, and I think it showed in qualifying, but I just couldn’t find my rhythm in the races. Because I was pushing hard after mid pack starts, I was making mistakes, dropping the bike and sending me back to where I started each time. 10th overall isn’t where I want to be, so I’ll be working hard between now and round 2 to find the positives and put myself in the positions I should be battling for”.

DPH Motorsport Husqvarna Factory Racing now looks towards round 2 of the MX Nationals in Appin, NSW on April 30.
