New Zealand’s Ben Townley has returned home to the motorcycle manufacturer that saw him claim the 2004 MX2 World Championship and finish third in the 2005 MX1 World Championship.

This time though, the 33-year-old and KTM are breaking new ground with a brand new off-road motorcycle tour company based in the riding mecca of New Zealand’s North Island.

Ben Townley Tours will offer riders from around the world the opportunity to ride some of the best motocross tracks and cross-country trails the planet has to offer, all aboard the latest model KTM range.

Based out of the spectacular tourist destination of Rotorua, riders will be able to tear up picturesque private motocross tracks, flowing single trail through mature pine plantations and native bush, be coached by Ben Townley, or even experience a New Zealand motocross club race or organised trail ride from behind the grips.

There are a wide range of packages to cater to every need, from five-day MX and XC trips to one-day MX tours and family tours. Every package is inclusive of all expenses: food, accommodation, track entries, bike hire, fuel, and airport pick-ups are all covered.

“I raced KTM for five years, including winning the 2004 World Motocross Championship, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of the KTM family again,” said Townley. “From motocross through to their trail, adventure and enduro machines, KTM offers the most complete range of high-quality motorcycles to cater to all levels of rider, which is a perfect fit for Ben Townley Tours.

“Be it motocross or trail riding, New Zealand has some of the best off-road riding in the world and to be able to offer people a bucket-list opportunity to come here and ride these incredible tracks and trails is really exciting. While my speciality and career is motocross, New Zealand has an incredible trail network over private farmland, forestry blocks and public land, and it’s all accessible to us.

“New Zealand has a high standard of tourism and I want to ensure that Ben Townley Tours is run to that same standard and creates an experience that people will remember for the rest of their lives. I’m really excited for this next chapter in my career and to share the ride with KTM.”
