Australia’s Hunter Lawrence has taken positives from his third-place result at the opening round of the 2018 MX2 World Championship in Argentina, despite not being completely satisfied on Sunday afternoon.

Lawrence delivered the new Team Honda 114 Motorsports squad a podium in its first-ever grand prix on-board the latest CRF250R, claiming the hole-shot in the opening encounter and going on to score 2-6 moto results.

“I’m pretty happy with the weekend, we have a lot of positives to take out of this weekend,” Lawrence reflected. “It would have been nice to get the win, but it’s not my favourite track, so I can’t be too disappointed.

“I prefer more technical tracks than this one, as it was high-speed and a bit flat, but we know what we need to change and sort out and make sure I’m 100 percent for the rest of the rounds. It was a good start to the year though, third overall on a bad day isn’t too bad. I’m looking forward to getting back to Europe and having a safe journey home.”

It was a strong start to Lawrence’s final season in the world championship, signing to head to the US with Geico Honda in a multi-year arrangement from the 2019 season. His 114 Motorsports team has a close association with the American-based Factory Connection organisation.
