Honda at Adelaide 500

Honda Australia press release:

Honda Motorcycles are in Adelaide this weekend for a big weekend of motorsport at the Adelaide 500.

Both factory and satellite teams are being represented in the Split Rhythm event with Penrite Honda’s Brett Metcalfe and Penrite Pirelli CRF Racing’s Jackson Richardson competing across all three days.

Honda’s Showtime Freestyle riders will be displaying their freestyle aerial acrobatics in the traction centre and the Honda Junior GP is in full swing, giving kids the opportunity to try their hand at motorcycle riding on the CRF50R.

Honda’s Brand and Motorsport manager Glyn Griffiths believes the Adelaide 500 is one of the biggest motorsport events in Australia and their presence is purposeful.

“We are showcasing our teams and bikes in racing and Freestyle Motocross and if the kids like what they see they can try riding for the first time. We have a great crew of riders and instructors present and they are always willing to help and assist.” Griffiths said.

Factory rider Brett Metcalfe cannot believe the enormity of the event. “I’ve watched it on TV and you can never really gauge how big the event is until you are there in person. Even though I’m a South Australian, I have been overseas racing for 16 years so this is an amazing opportunity for my family and I to be here and see what really goes on.

The fun bike attraction was a hit with my boys and was fully booked out for the day; it’s really great to see!” Said Metcalfe.

Penrite Honda owner Yarrive Konsky sees this event as one of the most beneficial for his team; “I am proud Honda is here, this is the largest audience we will compete in front of all year.

Honda and Penrite are both supporting the event and we hope to encourage new participation and interest for the sport of motorcycling,” said Konsky.
