Former Australian MX2 champion Jed Beaton is adamant that improving his starts will play an important role in recording the results he believes he should getting in the 2017 MX2 World Championship.

The Tasmanian was initially slated to contest just three rounds of the world series with the factory Honda HRC MX2 team, although his guest role was extended for the France’s MXGP finale this weekend.

Beaton has lodged an array of impressive performances in his three rides, finishing 13th overall last weekend at the penultimate stop, although a new focus on getting off the gate has the teenager confident of meeting his own expectations.

“I am excited to head into France this weekend,” said Beaton. “I haven’t actually seen much of the track so I don’t know what to expect but I know that I am looking forward to heading back onto hard pack.

“I just want to ride like I know how and get some good results, the starts have been something I need to work on, so putting a bit more focus on that this weekend should pay off and enable me to get the results I expect of myself.”

With teammate Michele Cervellin sidelined for the final two rounds with injury, it resulted in Beaton making a last-minute switch to the highly-anticipated 2018 CRF250RW, which he’ll again pilot this weekend.

The Australian’s additional ride with the factory team ultimately means his European Motocross Championship campaign with the Carglass Honda outfit has concluded, with the EMX250 division due to close out the series this weekend alongside the grand prix.
