Australian EnduroGP regular Daniel Sanders is relieved to have completed the 2017 FIM International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) in Brive, France, in what was a challenging week for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider.

Sanders dealt with an existing shoulder injury all week long which he initially sustained in a one-off appearance in the Australian Off-Road Championship last month, although he was still able assist the Australian squad to second, while also being 16th Outright and third in the E3 division.

“The ISDE is wrapped up and it’s great to finish,” Sanders commented. “It was a good result considering the injury I sustained – I didn’t want to let the team down so I’m happy that the team got second.

“We had a bad start in the final moto, I caught up with [Matthew] Phillips later on in the race and he let me by to keep an eye on me. We just wanted to make sure that we didn’t lose any time on the Fins.

“The individual result wasn’t the one we wanted but with the year I’ve had, its good to finish in the top 20 and third in the E3 class.”

It was a positive result of second for the Aussie World Trophy team consisting of Sanders, Matthew Phillips (CH Sherco Racing), Daniel Milner (KTM Enduro Racing Team) and Josh Green (Yamalube Active8 Yamaha), while the Junior team suffered great misfortune on the opening day, ruling Michael Driscoll (Yamaha) and Wil Ruprecht (Yamalube Active8 Yamaha) out of the event.

The Australian Women’s team claimed a record-breaking fifth straight title in the category, marking a special victory for the squad that has remained unchanged in the past five years.
