Positive MX Nationals finish on the horizon for Metcalfe and Crawford

Kawasaki Motors Australia press release:

The MEGA Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team will head to final stop of the 2017 MX Nationals series this weekend at the Coolum Pines MX Track in Queensland.

The sandy circuit, a favoured facility for both Brett Metcalfe and Queenslander Nathan Crawford, will serve as a strong 10th and final round for the pair of Kawasaki KX450F-mounted racers.

Focused on bouncing back from a challenging round nine in Toowoomba, experience MX1 international Metcalfe believes he will excel in the always-tough Coolum conditions.

“Last weekend was unfortunate, I had a crash in the first moto, which was a DNF, and I’m still recovering from that,” said Metcalfe. “But I’m looking forward to this weekend, being a bit of a sand race and something different, I look forward to getting out there and finishing on a high note.

“The rougher the track, the more experience comes into play and it normally works in my favour. I think the track will get really rough and sand is always unique and special in its own way. It’s going to be a pretty cool event, hopefully the weather is nice and we can finish off with a good round for everybody.”

Focusing on starting at the front of the field in both motos, MX1 rookie Crawford expects his maiden premier class podium to come this weekend at the familiar Sunshine Coast circuit.

“The game plan for me this weekend will to get two good starts, because I know I ride Coolum quite well,” Crawford explained. “If I can rip two good starts, I believe I can be on the podium, so that’s my main focus along with two solid motos.

“It’s going to be a good weekend, Coolum’s always a good event and it always creates a good vibe for the last round of the MX Nationals. I’ll have a lot of friends and family up there too, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Team manager and former multi-time Australian champion Troy Carroll expressed his gratitude to both his riders, the team and its partners as the factory Kawasaki squad prepares for a positive finish to the series.

“It’s great to go into round 10 of the MX Nationals again with two healthy riders,” Carroll said. “It was a very trying first five rounds for us, but we’ve really turned it around in the back-end of the season.

“We’re excited, both of our riders like the track that we’re going to, so we’re looking for a great result to end the season for the MEGA Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team and all of its commercial partners.

“We just couldn’t compete at this level without the support of all of our partners. We would like to thank them again for their ongoing support throughout the 2017 MX Nationals championship.”

Coolum’s 10th and final round of the 2017 MX Nationals will take place this weekend on 19-20 August, in Queensland. Further information on the 10-round series can be found on the official website at www.mxnationals.com.au.
