2016 Australian MX2 champion Jed Beaton believes the notoriously sandy and demanding circuit of Lommel will serve as an advantage for him this weekend at the MXGP of Belgium, marking his second outing of three with the Honda HRC MX2 outfit in the world championship.

Beaton, who’s currently based in Holland, commented his regular training circuits feature similar soil and conditions to Lommel, mentioning he’s essentially been training for the event all year long.

“I actually live in Holland so I have been riding it quite a lot this year,” Beaton explained. “I am looking forward to riding in the sand – all you ride in Holland is sand so I have been training for this for a while.

“My goal this weekend is the same as my weekend in Czech, improve every time I go out on the track and try and get a decent start.”

The Tasmanian recorded impressive 14-9 results for 12th overall at the Czech grand prix just two weeks ago, which signified his debut in the MX2 World Championship.

Following this weekend, Beaton will have one more opportunity to display his potential aboard the factory Honda CRF250RW, before returning to his regular role in the European Motocross Championship with the Carglass Honda team.
