Suzuki has announced AutoTrader/Monster Energy/JGR Suzuki will form as the Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing Team in 2018, being named as the manufacturer’s sole factory effort in Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championships.

The news comes after current Suzuki-backed team RCH Racing announced it would part ways with the company at the conclusion of the 2017 season, which raised questions on where Suzuki would direct its efforts for the new year.

Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing Team will continue to field riders in both 450 and 250 classes, with the premier class contenders set to pilot the all-new and revamped 2018 RM-Z450.

“JGR is very excited to deepen our partnership with Suzuki and Yoshimura,” said team owner Coy Gibbs. “The JGR crew has worked extremely hard to get into position to win championships, and this new effort and structure cements that championship-winning philosophy.

“We now have the right tools to lead the RM Army into battle – we are excited and ready to get the job done on every level.”

JGR initially partnered with Suzuki as a factory-backed team for 2017 after a number of years with Yamaha, currently hosting riders Justin Barcia, Weston Peick and Phil Nicoletti.

The team, which will continue to be led by long-time manager Jeremy Albrecht, is slated to field two riders in both classes, however it’s yet to be revealed who will fulfil the positions.
