Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Martin Davalos recorded his first-career podium finish in the premier 450MX category last weekend at Washougal’s ninth stop of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

The Ecuadorian-native, who’s in his rookie 450MX season, strung together 5-3 results for third overall, marking his first outdoor podium in over nine years, with his last in the quarter-litre division.

“Man, there’s really not much to say,” Davalos explained. “It was an amazing weekend for me. I’m confident and comfortable at this track. I just put my head down today and everything worked out well for me.

“My starts were on point, and that helped. I’m really proud of myself and all the hard work we’ve put in. I’m glad I could put this bike on the podium.”

The former long-time 250 veteran only stepped up to the premier class this year after 10 seasons aboard the smaller machine, much to the delight of race fans.

The factory Husqvarna rider currently sits eighth in the championship standings as three rounds remain, with the next stop on the calendar scheduled for 12 August, at the highly-popular Unadilla circuit.
