Metcalfe and Crawford shooting for Port Macquarie MX Nationals podium

Kawasaki Motors Australia press release:

The MEGA Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team will make their way to an all-new circuit on the 2017 MX Nationals calendar at Port Macquarie in New South Wales this weekend.

This Sunday’s eighth round of the Australian Motocross Championship will see team riders Brett Metcalfe and Nathan Crawford enter the event in strong form following a productive break in the series schedule.

Following just two rounds with the factory Kawasaki squad, South Australia’s Metcalfe is yet to miss the MX1 podium overall and looks to continue his recent streak aboard the 2017 KX450F in Port Macqaurie.

“It’s exciting to have a new track on the series because most of these tracks on the east coast I haven’t been too, like Nowra and Shepparton,” Metcalfe explained. “So I’ve been playing a bit of catch up learning the tracks and getting things dialled in.

“But I’m happy with two podiums back-to-back and now I’m really trying to get a win. We’ve still got some room to improve before that’s there, but we’ve had a good couple of weeks practice. I’m looking forward to going there with a new track, which is hopefully a bit of an equaliser for everybody and hopefully I can get on top there.”

Continuing to gain complete strength throughout the season, premier class rookie Crawford will be aiming to build on consistent finishes in Port Macquarie with a strong finish to the season being his primary focus.

“I actually haven’t ridden Port Macquarie for about 11 years, so that’s going to be something different going to a different track and I’m sure there will be a good vibe,” Crawford commented. “We’ve had a week off and I’ve had more good seat time on the bike.

“I’m feeling pretty good and getting more comfortable again. Hopefully we can consistently stay in the top five and I feel like I’m hopefully knocking on the door for that podium, we’ve got three rounds to do it so hopefully we can get there.”

MEGA Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team manager and multi-time national champion Troy Carroll is confident in yet another strong weekend as the team heads to an all-new and unfamiliar circuit.

“It’s great to go back racing again and Port Macquarie is a new circuit for the team this year – we haven’t had any time there,” said Carroll. “But we’re looking for a great result out of both Brett and Nathan, both boys are fit and healthy and we’ve had a great couple of weeks leading up.

“Brett’s even happier with the bike coming into this weekend and Nathan’s a lot fitter and a lot healthier after his incident at the start of the year, so we look forward to round eight of the MX Nationals.”

Port Macquarie’s eighth round of the 2017 MX Nationals will take place this Sunday, 30 July, in New South Wales. Further information on the 10-round series can be found on the official website at www.mxnationals.com.au.
