Megan Rutledge was victorious with her KX250F at this year’s Hattah Desert Race, crossing the line first in the Ladies class from 18 female competitors.

In her debut appearance, Meghan (Mad Meg) Rutledge prologed first in the women’s class and on race day she tore up the 38km circuit to complete the ladies class four lap race in 2 hours and 31 minutes.

“Hattah was an awesome race I had so much fun, it was so different to anything I have raced before,” said the former Australian Women’s Motocross and Supercross Champion.

“Sunday was race day and it was crazy with around four hundred bikes on the start line, starting one after another.”

“After the first lap madness had sorted its self out and everyone found there place, it was just about getting the four laps out as fast as I could and with four smooth, fast laps and two fast fuel stops I won the women’s class in my first year competing in this event.”

“I already can’t wait to get back there next year,” said Meghan.

Additional Kawasaki supported rider, Matt Jones campaigned his Matt Jones Motorcycles KX450F to 161st position from over 350 competitors in the Seniors class.

“It was a tough race this year”, said Matt Jones, reflecting on the event held south of Mildura, Victoria.

“There isn’t any chance to relax or to get into a resting type rhythm, that’s what makes it so unique for a desert race and I guess that is what keeps us coming back. It’s a challenge and an overall great event!”
