Solid points for Crankt Protein Honda Racing at Conondale

Team Honda Racing press release:

A second consecutive round podium result for Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Todd Waters at the 2017 MX Nationals yesterday has seen him close in on third overall in the MX1 championship hunt.

At a warm, dry outing at the picturesque Green Park circuit at Conondale, Queensland, Waters gained a valuable starting position with a fourth-fastest time in Super Pole.

In the opening MX1 outing Waters enjoyed a great start that saw him complete the first lap in second place, before settling into a consistent, steady rhythm around the flowing circuit to cross the line in third place.

In the second MX1 race, Waters and his 2017 CRF450R again rounded the first turn near the head of the pack and punched out strong lap-times for the entire race on his way to fourth place and third overall for the day.

Waters’ second consecutive podium has seen him close the gap on third in the MX1 championship chase to just four points.

Meanwhile, MX1 rookie Luke Clout started the day on a high note when he earned his first-ever Super Pole appearance after a strong fifth-fastest qualifying time – a result he replicated in Super Pole.

Clout got off the gate well in the opening moto and battled hard for the entire session on his way to a solid eighth place result.

In the second MX1 race, Clout again rode hard to another eighth place, en route to eighth overall for the day, cementing his seventh position in the MX1 championship standings.

The fourth round of the 2017 MX Nationals will be held at Horsham, Victoria, on Sunday, 21 May.
