Jesse Dobson is set to return to racing this weekend in the MX1 category for round three of the 2017 Motul MX Nationals series in Conondale, Queensland.

With backing from Penrite Oils and Honda, the rider from the Sunshine Coast will make his first appearance of the 2017 season domestically after contesting pre-season events and training in New Zealand earlier this year.

“I can’t wait to race again,” said Dobson. “I raced the New Zealand championship with Honda’s national factory team and trained with Ben Townley. I learnt so much over there and am excited to return to competition on one of my favourite tracks”

Dobson will enter this weekend’s Conondale round without high expectations from his supporters, admitting he is the one placing the pressure on himself to excel at one of his favourite events on the Australian circuit.

“I have been in constant contact with the team and we have done minimal testing,” Dobson explained. “We have built one bike for racing with minor changes to the engine and suspension.

“I must admit the new Honda is pretty awesome standard so we haven’t had to do a lot to it to make it competitive. When It comes to racing I am the one that’s placing pressure on myself to do well because it’s a track I really like”.

Confirmed for a full-time supercross seat in 2017, Dobson is expected to race select events leading into the series including MX Nationals rounds and the Hattah Desert Race.

“There is nothing that compares to racing and depending on many things I could potentially race one or two more rounds before the championship is over. I am also looking forward to racing Hattah for the first time”.
