Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy will head into this weekend’s final round of 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross trailing Jordon Smith after being penalised following East Rutherford.

Savatgy originally crossed the line third, but was docked five places to P8 due to the way he re-entered the track when crashing in the latter stages of the East Coast 250SX main event.

“I don’t give up and after barely losing last year, I won’t go down without a fight,” said Savatgy. “This week, we’ll keep our heads down and work hard to come to Las Vegas at our best.”

As a result, instead of leading by seven points entering the Vegas finals, Savatgy is one point behind TLD/Red Bull/KTM’s Smith and tied with Zach Osborne entering the winner takes all final round.
