Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Zach Osborne will continue to focus ahead after losing the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship East Coast 250SX points lead in Detroit.

Initially entering the round with a nine-point lead over Joey Savatgy, the 250SX veteran quickly dropped down the rankings after sustaining damage to his Husqvarna FC 250 in the first corner of the 15-minute main event.

Forced to make a mid-race pit stop, Osborne found himself two laps down and after returning to the race was only able to log an 18th-place finish scoring just three championship points.

“It was a tough night,” said Osborne. “I felt good all day and felt great on the track. I got a really good jump in my heat race, but just didn’t get around the first turn very well.

“In the main I thought I would go a bit wider and then absolutely crushed the start, but then someone came from the outside and we went down and their footpeg went through my spokes so I had to do a pit stop. I’m going to regroup and focus on next week’s race in St. Louis.”

Osborne now sits third overall in the East Coast 250SX standings, 10 points behind leader Joey Savatgy with three rounds remaining on the eastern regional schedule.
