Off-road ace Matthias Walkner will remain with the Red Bull KTM Rally Factory Racing Team in a new recently-announced multi-year agreement.

The 2015 FIM Cross Country Rallies world champion and 2017 Dakar Rally runner-up will continue his long-standing relationship with the Austrian manufacturer through 2020.

“As an Austrian there is nothing nicer than being able to ride an Austrian motorcycle for the best partner and to be able to do what you like most,” said Walkner.

Motorsports director for KTM Pit Beirer is confident Walkner can continue to deliver the factory squad strong more strong results over the coming seasons.

“Matthias has shown great promise as a rally raid competitor and as a member of the KTM factory team,” Beirrer said. “His second place in the 2017 Dakar Rally was outstanding and we are sure that he can deliver many excellent results in the future.

“For us it is important to nurture the next generation, and he has show that he can deliver a top result amongst the world’s best. We look forward to working with Matthias in the years to come.”

Walkner most recently rode alongside defending Dakar Rally champion Toby Price at the Red Bull KTM Rally Factory Racing Team before the Australian was forced out of the event due to injury.
