GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin will miss this weekend’s Oakland Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship round due to ongoing effects following a practice incident in Phoenix last weekend.

In an unavoidable situation, the multi-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship 250 Class winner came together with the downed 51Fifty Energy Drink Yamaha rider, Tyler Bowers.

Suffering a concussion in the incident, Martin sat out the Phoenix event and this week his team announced via social media that he would indeed sit out a second weekend in a row with hopes of a Dallas return.

“Unfortunately, due to the severity of Jeremy Martin’s injury at Glendale, he will be out for Oakland,” the team announced. “We are hoping to see him back in Dallas.”

Martin himself also released a statement via social media, expressing his disappointment in missing one of his favourite events on the calendar as he follows strict concussion protocol.

“Really bummed about missing Oakland this weekend,” said Martin. “It was easily going to be one of my favorite races due to the soft conditions! Still in concussion protocol. Doing everything in my power to be back for Dallas!”

Bowers was also injured in the incident, suffering a broken femur which will force him out of the remainder of the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross West Coast 250SX Championship.
