Rhys Budd signs with BCP Pro Circuit Honda for 2017

BCP Pro Circuit Honda press release:

Multi time Australian Junior Motocross Champion Rhys Budd has recently signed with Honda Racing Australia’s Factory junior outfit ‘BCP Pro Circuit Honda’ for season 2017. The 15 year old young gun from Oakdale in NSW will have his debut ride on the BCP CRF250R this weekend in what will be his final race for 2016.

“I just picked my bike and gear up about an hour ago and I’m about as excited as I could be to have my first race on it this weekend,” said Budd.
“I had the opportunity to test the BCP Honda race bike recently that Taj Marshall won the National Junior Championships earlier in the year on. I just clicked with the bike immediately particularly through the corners, and didn’t even have to touch a clicker on the suspension.”

One of the key factors involved in the recruitment of Rhys Budd’s services for 2017 was the mentoring system that is in place for the BCP Pro Circuit Honda Team.

“We had some terrific offers on the table for Rhys for next year but one of the most important things for us was the mentoring that he would receive by Lee (Hogan) and the attention to detail with the bikes from Tim at Eight11 Racing,” said Damien (Rhys’s Father).
“We want to give Rhys every opportunity possible to do the best he can in his career, so we are very excited as a family heading into 2017.”

With Rhys Budd already having three National Junior Championships to his name and the BCP Pro Circuit Honda team winning back to back national titles over the last two years, the pairing is something that team manager Lee Hogan has been working on over recent months.

“I’ve been friends with Rhys for quite a while now and I’ve coached and sponsored his older brother Mitch in the past. I can see how determined and focused Rhys is which is quite rare as a kid,” said Hogan.

“I’m really looking forward to working closely with Rhys and his family through their final year of juniors and hopefully that will be a fantastic platform to slingshot him into his young senior career.”

Rhys Budd will spearhead an expanding BCP Pro Circuit Honda Junior Development team for 2017. The complete team line up will be announced in coming days, featuring a variety of riders from three different states of Australia.
