DPH Motorsport’s Hayden Mellross is in a dream position as he carries an eight-point advantage in the SX2 category heading into this weekend’s Australian Supercross Championship finals, which will go down over two nights inside Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.

Mellross explained to MotoOnline.com.au that he has been waiting his whole career to be in control of the championship in the final rounds, and stated he’ll remain focused on himself this Saturday and Sunday night in order to capture the title.

“I’m ready,” Mellross emphasised when questioned about this weekend’s championship decider. “I’ve been waiting my whole life to be in this position right now, and it’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of. I’m so happy that it’s all coming together and that I’m in this position.”

“An eight-point lead isn’t a huge lead, but it’s enough. I’m in the best position possible and I’ll go there, focus on myself and focus on doing the Saturday night and Sunday night the best that I can. I’m pretty confident that if I do that, then I’ll come away with the win.”

The New South Welshman has failed to finish off the podium throughout the first four rounds, with a third place finish at Melbourne’s fourth round last weekend being his worst result of the series.

Mellross’ maiden victory only came in round three of six-round championship, where the 21-year-old raced to a commanding win at the Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide.
