Official track map unveiled for 2016 AUS-X Open

A selection of fan-favourite features return for the 2016 edition.

AME Management has unveiled the track map for the 2016 AUS-X Open which is scheduled to take place at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on 12-13 November.

The circuit will include many fan-favourite features from the 2015 layout, including a tunnel section that goes out of the arena, however for 2016, it will be filled with ‘Sydney beach sand’.

A FMX competition specification ramp will remain as the take off the for the finish line double, which has been increased to a 75-foot gap from last year’s 65-foot.

The Shannon’s Shortcut will also return for 2016, where each rider will be able to bypass the last rhythm lane in order to gain an advantage, although riders are only permitted to use it once.

The circuits rhythm sections will feature a selection of jumps that vary in size and distance throughout the length of the arena’s floorspace, allowing riders to choose different combinations in each rhythm lane.

The 2016 AUS-X Open will be headlined American rider Ryan Villopoto and Cooper Webb, plus Australia’s very own Chad Reed, who race amongst the country’s Australian supercross regulars.

In addition to the international supercross race, the Monster Energy FMX Best Trick contest will run alongside the event, with Clinton Moore, Jackson Strong and Tom Pages confirmed to take part as they endeavour to claim their share of the $120,000 prize purse.
