Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team’s Dylan Long will be sidelined for Jimboomba’s opening round of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship this Saturday, 17 September.

Long initially injured his thumb at Nowra’s sixth round of the MX Nationals, however the Victorian has re-aggravated the injury in the lead up this weekend’s event.

“It’s obviously a shame that before round one of the Supercross I’ve re-injured my thumb that I hurt at Nowra, but that’s racing and now the focus is on getting better,” Long explained.

The 22-year-old is yet to determine the extent of the injury, although he will seek treatment next week and undergo further evaluations.

“At this stage we aren’t sure of the extent of the injury, or how long it’s going to take to recover, so I’m going to find out from the doctors next week and then we’ll go from there. The first round is always a lot of fun so I’m sad that I won’t be there.”

Jay Wilson will be the sole Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team rider this weekend as he embarks on his rookie SX1 season.
