Serco Yamaha has signed Jackson Richardson as an additional rider for the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship.

The announcement was made this afternoon by Yamaha Motor Australia, stating that the 21-year-old will race alongside Serco Yamaha regulars Wilson Todd and Wade Hunter in the SX2 category.

In 2015 the popular North Queenslander capped off the season with a main event victory at the season finale in Melbourne, finishing runner-up in the championship behind American Jimmy Decotis.

Richardson was ruled out of the Monster Energy Supercross series in the US earlier this year due to a shoulder injury, however he just completed the Pro Motocross Championship 29th in the overall points standings.

Round one of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship is scheduled to commence this Saturday at Jimboomba in Queensland.
