Yamaha Motor Europe have announced the addition of Justin Barcia to their four-rider roster for the 2016 Monster Energy Supermotocross Riders’ Cup.

The JGR Yamaha rider will join MXGP regulars Romain Febvre, Benoit Paturel and Brent Van Doninck to form Yamaha’s complete line-up for the inaugural event scheduled to take place on 8 October in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

“It’s an honour to be selected to represent Yamaha at the first Monster Energy SMX Riders’ Cup,” Barcia stated. “Many of the world’s best motocross and supercross riders will be there, so the competition will be fierce.”

The SMX Riders’ Cup will see all seven major manufactures enter a four-rider squad to represent their respective brands on what will be a hybrid-style motocross circuit inside Veltins Arena.

Many teams have elected to choose riders from both the FIM World Motocross Championship and AMA Pro Motocross Championship, with names such as Ryan Dungey, Jeffrey Herlings, Jason Anderson and Tim Gajser confirmed to contest the event.
