Sherco Academy Team riders slugging it out at AORC

Sherco Australia press release:

The Motul Pirelli Sherco Academy Team continues to edge its way into the pointy end of Australian Off-Road Championship competition. This past weekend saw Team riders Jai Wedlock and Baylee Davies push through adversity to be rewarded with satisfying results.

Saturday’s round 9 of the AORC presented a three-hour cross country event. Wedlock put in his best performance of the season in what was regarded as the toughest cross country for some time. The Powerhouse Motorcycle apprentice mechanic hammered his Sherco 300SEF-R to 3rd place in the highly competitive Under-19 Class.

Wedlock’s success was short lived, however, when he was forced out of Sunday’s round 10 enduro sprint with a suspected broken foot.

“Saturday’s race was tough,” said Wedlock. “But I just kept pushing. My bike felt unreal and the new twin-chamber fork on the 300SEF-R Factory edition was mint. Everything was working perfectly. It was great to get a podium place. Sunday didn’t go plan. I hit a tree stump exiting a corner and my foot blew up. My toes went black and my foot was tingling so I called it a day. Luckily there is no real damage so I’ll be right for the next round.”

Tasmania’s Baylee Davies suffered a stomach complaint during Saturday’s cross country race but soldiered on to a 6th place result in the E1 class for 250cc four-strokes. Davies showed grit and determination to push his Motul Pirelli Sherco 250SEF-R Factory edition through a challenging weekend and now sits in 5th place with two rounds remaining in the Championship.

“I’m over the moon to now be sitting in 5th place,” Davies explained. “I had a tough weekend and I have plenty more to give so I’m really looking forward to the final two rounds next month.”

Rounds 11 and 12 of the AORC will complete the 2016 AORC season. The final weekend of racing will take place at Penshurst in Victoria on September 10-11.
