MX Nationals MX2 red plate holder Jed Beaton has been confirmed for this weekend’s Switzerland round of the MXGP World Championship in the EMX250 class.

Coming off back-to-back wins in Australia, DPH Motorsport regular Beaton will ride under Josh Coppins’ JCR Yamaha banner in the European-based development championship.

The timing of his European journey comes just weeks out from the final two rounds of the MX Nationals in which he’s tied for the points lead with Nathan Crawford, however he sees the trip as a benefit to his title chances.

“I think it’s going to be beneficial to me and go there to learn what it’s about and try learn the speed,” Beaton said. “If anything, I think it will be beneficial, so I’m really looking forward to it!”

The EMX250 class has become more familiar to Australian fans during the 2016 season, with Hunter Lawrence winning the German round and being in title contention before a knee injury forced him out of the series.

With European experience to his credit, it’s suggested Beaton is in the box seat to represent Australia in MX2 during the upcoming Motocross of Nations at Maggiora, Italy, on 24-25 September.
