Moto 360

An all-access Australian view of dirt bikes, presented by Alpinestars.

The first half of the year is almost complete and it’s flown by as we now stare down the barrel of the back-half. The mid-season is when we’re in the think of championships and by now we know where almost everyone stands in terms of form.

We took the opportunity last weekend to take some time out, reset on our season in terms of coverage and daily content, then power-on into the July-December time frame, where the championships are decided, silly season heats up and new bikes/products start to flow.

The good news is that from January to today, our traffic is up across the board here on CycleOnline.com.au, on MotoOnline.com.au and, of course, also on our brand new BikeOnline.com.au website, which started from scratch in December. Collectively, we’re covering motorcycling in Australia closer than ever before.

On BikeOnline for a moment, if you haven’t had the chance to check it out, please do. It was created as a quality online avenue to post all things motorcycles, without the flood of racing content that you’d be used to on our existing titles. The key is that it retains the very format that our regular audience is used to.

So from adventure bikes to sports-touring, cruisers to customs and everything in between, BikeOnline.com.au has it covered. And this is just the beginning, because thankfully the industry is seeing great value in it locally and we’re building resources all the time. It’s a new challenge, but a worthy one for a variety of reasons.

And we’ve mentioned it before, but aside from all the website content, a major and ever-evolving part of the Foremost Media business is our production division. We’ve been creating films consistently all year for clients, along with all sorts of other projects, and it’s been a time-consuming task, but again, worth the while.

The broader we can make our business span when it comes to media and all that we specialise in, the more resources we have to work with, which in turn enables us to continue growing the main target of producing world-class Australian websites. Especially being at the forefront of a digital swing in information consumption.

Taking a quick look at racing now, the big story at the moment is Chad Reed’s MXGP cameo, firstly at Matterley Basin last weekend and then this weekend at Mantova. Sure, he’d probably like to be further up the order, but at the same time just contesting two low pressure races back in Europe looks to be a blast for the Aussie great.

Pro Motocross and GNCC are also back on this weekend in the US, also including a host of talented Australians. Speaking of which, check our Countdown feature from earlier this week looking at our current countrymen and women performing well globally at the moment.
