Sherco’s Matt Phillips has won the second day of action in the EnduroGP series at Heinola in Finland, remaining in the lead of the world championship following the opening four rounds.

Phillips was fourth on the first day of competition, topped by Eero Remes (TM) ahead of Steve Holcombe (Beta) and Nathan Watson (KTM). The result had Phillips on top of the E2 class.

The second day saw Tasmania’s former two-time world champion Phillips take his third outright victory of 2016, placing him back at the head of the championship standings and tied with Remes. He won over Remes and Watson.

“Remes and Watson were pushing me hard for the overall win, which helped me get ahead in the Enduro 2 class,” Phillips said. “The day was difficult, but I just kept pushing and pushing. It was a great day, a really good way to finish the GP of Finland.”

The EnduroGP World Championship series now heads to Sweden, where round five of the 2016 championship will take place in Enkoping on 18-19 June.
