Form

Our picks:
Kirk Gibbs (MX1) – The series only heads to Wanneroo every second year, and in 2014 it was Billy Mackenzie who took top honours there. Gibbs now leads the championship and has had great success in the Manjimup 15000 (another Western Australian sand event) in past years, so he’s looking good for a strong performance this weekend.

Caleb Ward (MX2) – The KTM Motocross Racing Team rider is a specialist in the sand and in 2014 he swept the event at Wanneroo in the MX2 class. He also enters the event with added confidence after sweeping both motos in Murray Bridge last weekend.

Next best:
Todd Waters (MX1) – Waters is coming off the back of his first overall win of the season and he’s a huge fan of the sand. He’ll be aiming to keep that winning feeling alive in Western Australia.

Nathan Crawford (MX2) – Nathan Crawford has been right there all season aboard his Husqvarna and he currently sits just out of the points lead. He’s fast in the sand and he’ll be up there trying to stop Ward from running away with moto wins.

Outside chances:
Dean Ferris (MX1) – Ferris is fast, fit and also enjoys the sand. He’ll be looking to rebound from a sub-par Murray Bridge performance, his first round off the podium this season.

Wilson Todd (MX2) – The Serco Yamaha rider trains with Caleb Ward and has serious speed in the sand, or on any track for that matter. If Todd can put together a good start and consistent laps, he’ll be dangerous in Wanneroo.

Watch for:
MX1 – Matt Moss, Kade Mosig, Dylan Long, Dan Reardon, Jay Wilson

MX2 – Jed Beaton, Jayden Rykers, Jake Moss, Dylan Wills, Wade Hunter
