South Australians will be treated to a rare opportunity to catch one of their greatest exports in action this coming weekend, when Brett Metcalfe races on home soil at Murray Bridge for round four of the Motul MX Nationals.

Metcalfe, who grew up in Mannum only a short half hour drive from Murray Bridge, has clocked up an impressive resume whilst racing overseas and will return to Canada to contest their 2016 motocross championship following this weekend’s event.

Heading back to South Australia where his professional racing career started will be a special moment for the SD3 Husqvarna rider who has his sights set on a home turf MX1 victory.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend,” said Metcalfe. “Murray Bridge is literally half an hour from the house that I grew up in. Murray Bridge generally draws one of the biggest crowds to the track throughout the whole series, so hopefully everyone turns out this weekend and I can put on a good show for the locals.

“This whole trip to Australia, I knew it would take me a couple of rounds to get the ball rolling but by the time we get to Murray Bridge this weekend I should be ready to fire up and can hopefully finish with a win.”

With his family and friends having the rare opportunity to be there in the flesh to cheer him on the 32-year-old is beaming with excitement ahead of the event.

“This weekend is going to be so cool,” he added. “To have my family there with me while I’m racing and to have my dad as my mechanic again is something really special. Some of my family have only ever seen me race a few times in Australia because it just doesn’t happen very often.

“It’s exciting to know that everyone is going to be cheering me on and watching and getting to experience what I do on race day. Whether it’s a win or a loss on the race track, it’s a win for me no matter what.”

Metcalfe currently sits fifth overall in the MX1 championship standings after three rounds of racing.
