Verdict:
It’s extremely interesting the way this series is shaping up, as Kirk Gibbs became the third different round winner of three this year. But it was consistency that got the job done with a 2-2 scorecard, meaning the defending champ’s still yet to actually win a moto in 2016. Factor in that an almost as consistent 3-3 from Matt Moss left him off the podium altogether in fourth, it shows precisely how tight this field is no matter the conditions. Between the two most recent MX1 title winners were Dean Ferris (moto two winner) and Todd Waters (moto one winner), further indicating that it’s these four that have established themselves as the class of 2016 to date. Of note aside from that was an improved round for the factory Honda duo of Dylan Long and Jay Wilson, increasing their confidence as a result.

Verdict:
What a turnaround! Jed Beaton absolutely dominated the MX2 field at Broadford with both race wins (take a look at his victory margins) and now holds the red plate. He was joined on the podium by Kyle Webster and Luke Arbon, displaying the mixture of guys capable at winning this class in 2016. For the likes of title threats Nathan Crawford and Jake Moss it was a decent day, but the big news was previous championship leader’s Caleb Ward’s disastrous round. A smoky mechanical in moto one forced him out, before a crash in the second had him all the way down in 15th by moto’s end. That means in the standings he plummeted from first all the way to seventh!
