Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey has his sights set on wrapping up the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX Championship at this weekend’s penultimate round in New Jersey.

Although the duo of Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac foiled Dungey’s plans to clinch the title at last weekend’s Foxborough event, the two-time champion remains focused on the task at hand for this weekend’s 16th round of the series.

“I got up front early but couldn’t hold the gap,” said Dungey. “I just struggled a little bit. I just kept my head up and kept charging. We’ll move ahead to next weekend and look to take care of business there. Nothing we can do but keep it rolling.”

With 43 points between he and Roczen, Dungey needs to gain just seven points at this weekend’s MetLife Stadium event in order to clinch the championship.

The defending champion, who last failed to record a top-10 finish 44 races ago at Anaheim on 1 February 2014, needs only a 14th place finish or better in this weekend’s 20 lap main event.
