Waters eyeing the Appin MX1 podium while Wilson ruled out

Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki press release:

With round one locked away for the Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki Race Team, Todd Waters is preparing to converge on round two of the Motul MX Nationals in Appin this weekend, while Luke Wilson has now been ruled out due to injury.

After making their debut in Horsham two weeks ago, the Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki Race Team will field one rider at Appin this weekend, with Waters now prepared to fly the Suzuki flag solo.

Waters, who despite bad luck in race one at Horsham, showcased his speed in race two, to finish inside the top five of Thor MX1 class, and will be looking to up his game once again this Sunday, April 17.

“We are really excited about heading to Appin, being not too far from Sydney you always get a good crowd there, and we’re hungry to do well,” he said.

“We didn’t have the best round at Horsham, so I’m super keen to turn things around.

“The last time I raced at Appin, four days before hand I actually broke my collar bone and I still raced, so to be honest it was probably one of the toughest races of my life. It’s going to be nice going back there feeling 100 per cent.

“I’ve been riding a local track in Queensland that forms up in a similar way to Appin, and for me, we are going there to try and win races, that’s the main goal.”

Unfortunately for Water’s teammate Wilson, racing at round two has now been ruled out, after the MX1 rider crashed at round one, and is still nursing a back injury.

“I saw the Chiropractor this morning, and he just said that if I race this weekend, I’m going to be back to square one and I’ll be off the bike again for two weeks, so I’ve really got no choice but to sit this round out,” he said.

“I’ve only been on the bike twice since Horsham, and one ride was ok, but the second ride was similar to what Appin will be like and I just wasn’t able to ride the way I needed to.

“I’m just going to stay home and rest it, and hopefully that will allow me to get back into it for round three at Broadford.”

Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki, will now head to round two of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals at Appin, New South Wales, being held on Sunday April 17.
