Two-time former MX1 champion Matt Moss will arrive at the Macarthur Motorcycle Complex with the red number plates on his KX450F to signify he’s the current points leader after a memorable win in his debut team outing two weeks ago at Horsham. Over the years Appin has traditionally been a happy hunting ground for the 27-year-old and Moss is eager to get back behind the gates and try and extend his points lead.

“Appin is my home race, so I’m really excited both about that and having the red plate on the front of my bike,” Moss said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve had that in motocross, but I’ve had some great races at Appin over the years and I’m looking forward to keeping that streak alive.”

MX1 teammate Kade Mosig showed plenty of promise that he’s a legitimate title contender at the opening round of the championship when, aboard the all-new KX450F, he topped the timing sheets and claimed the Super Pole qualifying points. In a talent-filled field Mosig then proceeded to finish an impressive fourth overall, but is looking to finish further up the leaderboard on Sunday.

“I’ve had a really good couple of weeks and we’ve been able to work on a couple of areas that came out of Horsham,” he explained. “There were a lot of positives to take out of that first round, such as my speed and my starts, but it’s a matter of eliminating the little mistakes. We’re nearly there, I just need to keep my focus and continue building throughout the season and we’ll be on the right track.”

Meanwhile, in the highly competitive MX2 class, Jake Moss was a revelation at Horsham when he put 12 months of injury behind him to claim a podium result in his first outing on the National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team KX250F. With just one point separating the top three racers coming into Appin, Moss says he has everything to gain this weekend.

“I’m excited to be back racing again,” Moss stated. “I’ve had a couple of days off so I’m feeling refreshed and can’t wait to get back to Appin. My aim for the first half of this season is to finish top five in both motos at every round, but if something better comes along I’ll grab that opportunity with both hands.”

In a golden opportunity for race fans, Sydneysiders are being given the chance to see the National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team up close and personal on Friday, 15 April, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at the Kawasaki Motors Australia headquarters.
